about ME

Annie Gillen has a diverse professional background that has served her as an Assistant Music Director, and Assistant Program Director for two New York radio stations, as well as extensive sales, legal and production background that spanned close to twenty years in both the music and film industries. Prior to her retirement in 2020, Annie was employed by the Nielsen Company, the world’s largest market research firm, who not only provides measurement service of what consumers watch, listen to or read but also what they buy, Ms. Gillen managed contract processing for Nielsen’s tracking service for television and radio commercials. Also through Nielsen, Ms. Gillen was able to expand and extend her talents to many areas of Nielsen’s community and social outreach programs, from working to solve important public policy issues around the world such as obesity, hunger, sustainability and the digital divide.

As part of Nielsen Government and Public Sector, Ms. Gillen was involved with the White House and the Partnership for a Healthier America to encourage Americans to drink more water.  This project afforded her the opportunity to meet First Lady Michelle Obama during the water project kickoff.  Mrs. Obama hailed Nielsen’s work in providing invaluable information and ideas as “groundbreaking”.  In addition, Ms. Gillen was able to arrange for Nielsen’s Tanzania offices to participate in a global day of service project by arranging the donation of various tools of technology, including used computers and other school supplies to a secondary school in the village Karatu, a 2-day journey from the Tanzania office. Annie was also responsible, through Nielsen, for developing a career workshop for the Dress for Success foundation on the belief that in addition to being well dressed for business, it is important to have the best skills possible.  She spearheaded the resume writing sessions, mock interviews, presentation skills and resources to provide these women with resources and knowledge to be able to successfully interview and get a position on a higher level than what they might have originally been able to accomplish.
